Bon Déjeuner in Beaune

Lunch in Beaune

C’est l’huere pour un Beaune Déjeuner!  We’re in the charming little town of Beaune, 25 miles south of Dijon. It’s time for lunch, (aka “déjeuner”). We had done our homework, so we already had a couple of restaurants in mind. After some wandering around, we found our way to one of them. It looked like our kind of place, so we went in, got seated, and settled in for lunch.  The name of the restaurant was Le Conty. Continue reading “Bon Déjeuner in Beaune”

Day Trip to Beaune

Yesterday we took the train from Paris to Dijon, got settled in our apartment, then did some casual exploring around town. We had dinner at an Italian restaurant/pizza joint. Great pizza! We sat outside on a patio. It was nice.  Today we’re taking a day trip to nearby Beaune. Continue reading “Day Trip to Beaune”

A Walk Down Rue de la Liberté, Dijon

We’ve made it to our apartment in Dijon, settled in, and now we’re heading out on our first walk to check out the town. Our street dead-ends into an intriguing little passageway, so we walked over to take a closer look. We went in.  When we came out on the other side, we were standing in front of a huge building known as the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy. Wow – It is one impressive building! Our Dijon Apartment

This morning we took the train from Paris to Dijon. Then we took a 10-minute taxi ride from the train station to an apartment we had reserved. We met the owners — a nice couple who live in one of the other apartments in the building. They’ve just given us the grand tour of our Dijon apartment — our home for the next four days. Au Revoir Paris, Bonjour Dijon!

It’s time to say “au revoir” to Paris. We packed our bags, tidied up the apartment, and put the key in a lock box. Outside on the street, a taxi was waiting for us. The driver took us to the famous old train station called “Gare de Lyon.” It’s sad to leave Paris, but at the same time, it’s exciting to be off to someplace new.
